2022 Hypothermia Relief Shelter
Holy Comforter will host a one-week Hypothermia Prevention Shelter from Sunday, January 30 to Sunday, February 6. In partnership with FACETS, our Ministry Center will host 30+ guests who live and work without a home. Unlike last year, where guests were housed in a central location and we brought food and supplies to them, our parish will provide a warm place to sleep and nourishing meals.
In addition, our shelter will offer much needed personal supplies (toothpaste/brushes, socks, soap/shampoo, etc.), Smart Trip cards, gasoline cards, and provide entertainment such as music, games, books, and magazines. Look for the big green bin marked Hypothermia Shelter in the church narthex.
Donate much needed funds to support our guests for Metro Smart Trip Cards and other needed supplies. To support the shelter click on the button below and select “Hypothermia Shelter” from the Fund dropdown menu.
Back by popular demand! Orientation for Hypothermia Relief Shelter volunteers happens Monday, January 24 from 8:00 to 8:45 p.m. on Zoom! This is for volunteers who couldn’t attend on January 15 and those who have recently signed up!
Breakfast – Download breakfast menus by day with recipes.
For each breakfast service, we are seeking two individuals/groups to prepare breakfast. Recipes will need to be doubled per individual/group to support all our guests. Please note, Friday’s breakfast is store bought breakfast sandwiches for those who don’t wish to cook but would like to provide a meal.
For each dinner service, we are seeking two individuals/groups to prepare meals. You are asked to follow recipes as closely as possible.
