The Six Triple Eight is a Netflix film based on the true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-Black, all-female unit in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during World War II, who were tasked with clearing a massive backlog of mail for American troops stationed in Europe, significantly boosting morale amidst challenging conditions of racism and sexism they faced; the film highlights the leadership of Major Charity Adams, played by Kerry Washington, as the battalion overcame adversity to successfully complete their mission, bringing to light a largely untold story of these remarkable women soldiers.
