The Holy Comforter Concert Series resumes on Sunday, November 7 with a performance by the Left Bank Quartet, featuring Schubert’s well-known “Death and the Maiden” string quartet together with works by Haydn and the 20th-century composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
The ensemble’s musicians have been playing together for more than twenty years, in addition to teaching at the University of Maryland’s School of Music and pursuing active performing careers both locally and at many of the major music festivals in the United States and abroad.
These four musicians, with their diverse and colorful backgrounds, came together through the auspices of the Theater Chamber Players, and rather unexpectedly discovered the joys of a vibrant and enthusiastic collaboration. They take their name from the fact that the Kennedy Center, their first regular venue, is situated on the left bank of the Potomac River.
We’re delighted to present such a distinguished group on our series and hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to hear a really fine concert of classical chamber music.
The concert is free, with a request for donations to support Holy Comforter’s music program.
