Who We Are

Faith. Family. Friends. Food for Thought. Everyone is welcome at Holy Comforter!

We believe that relationships in and through the risen Christ are the key to connection with God and forming a meaningful life together. We are always looking for ways to create a community that mirrors God’s unconditional acceptance and love for everyone — a place that reaches outside to touch and serve those in need, as well as a place where you can find conversation, ask questions, and be understood. Life is often filled with unexpected twists and turns. Why travel alone? You are welcome here, even if you haven’t been inside a church in awhile.

Where We Come From

The foundation upon which Holy Comforter has continually been built since 1895 remains focused: faith, family, friends, food for thought!

We also have small groups (Open Circles, Bible Studies, Prayer groups, etc.) for most stages and ages of life and ministries that seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves. They are a wonderful way to get to know us better and to make friends. We never pressure anyone into worship, membership or in any other area!

Mission Statement

The Church of the Holy Comforter is called to help our community and world know the transforming love of God in Jesus Christ. We welcome all people into a generous Christian community where they may encounter God’s transforming presence in worship, be formed with others in the way of Christ through intentional formation, and be empowered to live out their faith through engagement in God’s mission of healing and reconciliation in a rapidly changing world.

The church fills with music and song before one of our clergy—the Rev. Jon Strand, the Rev. Ann Gillespie, or the Rev. Jackie Thomson—delivers a practical and relevant message—typically with a few references that will make you grin. Children, with their wiggles and giggles, are welcome at the service. A nursery is also available for your convenience. We offer a Children’s Chapel and Sunday School for children and youth.

Yes! Jesus loves children and so do we! Children with their wiggles, giggles, clatter and cries are the sounds of a thriving church. We also offer a staffed nursery for children ages 4 and under that is located downstairs.
