2023 Annual Pledge – More Than Enough

“And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.” Luke 9:16-17, NRSV

What is the annual pledge?

A pledge is your statement of intent to give of your financial resources for the work of our parish in the coming year. Every member of Holy Comforter is asked to make a financial commitment in proportion to your income and ability. Doing so both helps us to plan our budget and is a sign of our shared commitment to God’s work through the church.

What does your pledge support?

Each year, the annual pledge accounts for more than 90 percent of our operating resources. Without a strong commitment of our parishioners, we would not be able to support our clergy, staff, or the many outreach programs that so many in our parish and the Northern Virginia count on.

What is our goal for 2022?

Our goal was simple: reach a total pledge amount of $1,200,000 by increasing pledges by 10 percent to 286 households with an overall increase in pledge amounts by 10%.

How do I pledge?

There are two easy ways to make that commitment: return the pledge card you received by mail, or simply pledge online. If you would like a fresh pledge card, please call the Church Office at 703-938-6521.

Your Pledge, Your Way

Your pledge is a sacred, private act and will be kept confidential. As the pandemic has limited us from meeting in person, you can fulfill your pledge by mailing or dropping off a check to the Church Office. Many of our parishioners have come to appreciate the convenience of electronic giving. Contact Liz Bleich in our Church Office at 703-938-6521 for assistance with direct debit donations. Alternatively, you can set up your own one-time or recurring online payment below.

If you are concerned about your future of your financial circumstances, your pledge is not a legally binding agreement, but a pledge of your intentions. Sometimes life throws us curveballs. You can always adjust your pledge amount by calling Liz Bleich at the number above.

How will I know that the church has received my pledge payments?

At the end of each quarter you will receive a statement of your contributions from the Church Office by mail.

How does the pledge relate other support I provide Church of the Holy Comforter?

There are other ways to support our parish home including volunteering and donations for special activities such as youth programs. In addition, many of parishioners have generously contributed to our Holy Comforter’s Capital Campaign. This was a special campaign to build our Ministry Center and to make some much-needed renovations. However, for day-to-day operations, Holy Comforter depends on regular payments from annual pledges for its normal operating expenses. That is why the annual pledge campaign is vital to our faith community.
