Book and Movie Club: El Norte

Our special book and movie club meets monthly, alternating between discussing books and movies, featuring titles that will deepen our understanding of racial justice. We include fiction and nonfiction, drama and documentaries.
Join us on Monday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom for a discussion of the movie, “El Norte.”
Teenage siblings, Rosa and Enrique, manage to escape the massacre of their Guatemalan village and decide to start a new life in El Norte— the USA. The two trek through Mexico, meeting a variety of characters and facing trials and tribulations on their journey toward lives as illegal immigrants in Los Angeles. The movie is available on Prime and other services.
